My awesome companion Elder LyonMTC Day 4
it really seems like day 10 ha but that isnt a bad thing i really enjoy the mtc. i am surrounded by a bunch of guys (i mean elders) that have the same standards and beliefs as i do. we all put everything into gods hands cause there is no way we could learn the language as fast as we are without him. the teachers have so much trust in god that they thought we could teach an investigator the second day! talk about a lot of pressure! his name was benjamin and he was from madrid spain andspoke no english. we spent every second of free time we had to prepare somewhat of a lesson in spanish. this did nopt go very well he didnt seem interested in the lesson at all. (i dont blame him! due to the fact we could barely read spanish let alone speak any!) but i am not gonna lie i think i have learned more spanish in3 days then i did in 2 years of junior high spanish. woops i forgot to mention elder lyon my companero! we are gonna have a great time in the mtc together! we have very similar personalities and are very layed back. (no drama here!) also in our room is elder green or as we have called him elder verde ha hes 22 and played shooting guard for utah state! we are very lucky to have 4 awesome normal guys in our room.
i guess while i am thinking about it ill let you know that my next 2 letters should come on the next 2 fri around the same time that is when our pday is and we head to do our laundry.
the food is pretty good here in the mtc, i have been trying new things knowing that in 9 weeks i will be eating nothing close to what we are eating here ha one thing that is hard to get used to is eating dinner at 5 ha i always have to grab a banana or apple to snack on when we get back to the room after class at 9.
waking up hasnt been to hard because we have 4 alarms in our room and as soon as elder verde wakes up he turns the stupid light on!
one thing i would like to tell mitch is to not just read preach my gospel like i did but to study it. think of a friend that could use the gospel in there life and focus on what heavenly father wants them know. having a purpose to your study will greatly help your understanding to what you learning.
to tanner i would like to say goodluck because there is no way i have enough time to include how to do everthing in the short 30 min they give us haha
to jesse practice up your keeper skills cause good keepers are in high demand in the mtc haha
to noah keep sayying your prayers morning and night and read a few verses everday. also have tanner teach you how to fix your bike so me and you can start up a bike shop when i get back.
to dad thanks for teaching me the value of hard work and that when we give everything to lord he will bless us with exactly what we need whenever we need it
to mom thank you for teaching me patience and understanding.
well the time is now at 3:20 and i cant think about anything else to write to i guess that is all the lord wanted me to share but i know that in the next week he will fill me with plenty of new words to share with you because me alone cannot write diddely squat! haha

MTC Day 10
so one of my favorite times of the day is gym i never thought that having a gym class would keep me going but that is the only thing keeping me from falling asleep throughout the day! ha so im not sure if you have heard about 4 square but i think the last time i played was in like 3rd grade but it is my complete favorite and i am already powning everybody! everytime i get to the glory square everybody is like who is this guy?! and my companero and other district elders are like hes the new guy....haha also this is insane but yesterday all of us peru elders in our district got our travel plans for heading to the peru MTC!! we are leaving on the 24th but i cant tell you what time :( i think i heard that i might get to call though so we'll see. i cant remember if i told you about benjamin the investigator we were teaching but we had our last lesson with him 2 days ago and he was asked top be baptized and he said not yet but he might! and then yesterday we showed up to class and he was really our other teacher!!! we all were so mad! they decided not to tell us so that the experience would as genuine as possible. we still love him he is an awesome guy. some more bad news however is that we are down an elder in our district after elder barson was sent home because of some medical reasons. he had nerve problems in his arm and it started shaking all the time and he couldnt shave or write anymore. :( oh just remembered but it would be way cool if you could get me the peru flag to hang up in the room! and for some reason i cant find a calender anywhere here so if there is a cool calender with the different temples on it or something we could make some good use out of it. i really have quite a bit more to say but im running out of time so ill get to the important stuff :) i wanted to share a scripture with you that found while reading in 3 nephi (which i love sooooo much) chapter 12 verse 16 it reads "therefore let your light so shine before this people, that they may see your good works and glorify your father who is in heaven" i have gained such a strond testimonie of this scripture while being in the mtc because of all the good missionaries that do a perfect job of letting their light shine. i know this because i can feel it everywhere i go and in everything i do. and i want to to keep this same light with me throughout my whole mission and after i am finished. i challenge you to be an example and let your light shine to all those around you whether they be friends or strangers. yo se que el libro de mormon es la palabra de dios y yo se que that jesucristo es el hijo de dios, y yo se que jesucristo es mi salvador y mi redentor en el nobre de jesucristo, amen.

MTC Day 17
alright i am back :) its crazy how the time warps in the MTC! the days are some of the longest days i have ever had but then when all of a sudden p-day comes i have to ask myself "didnt we just have p-day?" the days go by like weeks but the weeks go by like days.so sorry but i forgot my notecard that had everything i was gonna tell you but ill try to remember most of it. first i was gonna tell you about my first time wieghing my self during gym...hahah...i had no idea that any human being could gain that much weight in such a short time! i gained 10 lbs in 2 weeks! and its not cause the food is soo good you cant stop eating its that everything is fried! fried chicken, fried steak, french fries, burgers its rediculous. i have changed my habits though and have already lost 4 of those ten :) another thing i have discovered is that there is no way in 30 min i can answer all of the questions that i have been getting through dear elder so im gonna write home every week on p-day to answer the questions then i can tell you all how im doing in the emails. today i already wrote a letter to each of the boys and mom and included is a letter to the shenks and thomas, cause i didnt have their addresses. later today im gonna write dad but ill be sending it seperately. so if your wondering where your answers to your questions are they are on the way. now to tell you about my experience in the mtc...well i dont know if i have told you already but everybody has told us we have the closest district out of any they have seen. we do everything together. play volleyball during gym together, eat breakfast lunch and dinner together, one thing i really have liked is that when we have sunday walk up to the temple we sit in a circle and everyone tells one thing they like about every other person in the district. i havent felt the spirit that strong in a while. today the temple session was amazing! i love being able to go to a temple session with 30 other elders that are just like me. we are all here for different reasons but no matter what reason it is we all have the same purpose and that purpose is to invite others to come unto christ by helping them recieve the restored gospel through faith in jesus christ and his atonement, repentance, baptism, recieving the gift of the holy ghost, and enduring to the end. i know that if we are 100% obediant and give 100% of hard work that i will be successful as a missionary. i hope school is going well for everyone you'll all have to tell me about it through dear elder letters cause i wont get mail letters or email before i leave to peru. A scripture that i want you guys to ponder is one that i have been working on while at the mtc and i think we all can. d&c 100:5-6 but it talks about lifting up your voice and share the gospel and if you dont know what to say (which happens all the time to me cause i dont know diddely nothin in spanish) have faith and the spirit will fill you mouth with teachings of jesus christ. one thing i remebered is i am short on t-shirts but if you send them it will have to be to the peru mtc. my favorite ones are the plain color tall tees from gen-x i have a gray and blue one already. love you guys like a fat kid loves cake or as much as a fish needs water.
